Join Me for the Are You Faster than a Boy Scout Run

by Lisa Bray

Join Me for the Are You Faster than a Boy Scout Run

As an Arizona native and Goodyear resident, I’ve been proudly serving the West Valley real estate market since 2003. In addition to working as full-time agent helping clients achieve their real estate goals throughout the Valley, I love participating in local community events. Especially the charity 5Ks! Back in December I had the pleasure of running in the Run Run Rudolph Quarter Marathon Run at Rio Vista Park in Peoria. This month, I invite you to join me for the upcoming community walk/run event, Are you Faster than a Boy Scout on Saturday, March 17th.

This is a fun, family-friendly event that you will want to return to year after year. The race is a flat and fast, chip timed event and is staffed by the Boy Scouts with support from adult volunteers. Best of all 100 percent of the proceeds for this race go to fund Scouting activities including, summer camps and high adventure camps for the active Scouts in the local Troop. Troop 99, based in Litchfield Park, was chartered by the Goodyear Aircraft Corp. in 1943 and has been developing young boys into leaders in the community ever since.

The run will take place at 7:00 am at the City of Litchfield Park located at 100 S. Old Litchfield Rd., Litchfield. There will be a 5k and 10k course available to either walk or run and participants will receive a race shirt, Boy Scout themed finisher medal, and assorted discounts. The top three male and female finishers in each age group will receive awards and there will be a special division for Scouts. If you’d like more information about the first annual Are You Faster than a Boy Scout Run or if you’d like to join me, you can register by clicking here.

For more fun things to do in the West Valley or if you’re ready to buy or sell a home in the communities of Goodyear, Litchfield Park and Avondale, please contact me today!

Staying Active and Involved this Holiday Season

by Lisa Bray

Staying Active and Involved this Holiday Season

It’s important to stay active and involved in your community all year round, but it’s especially important during the holiday season to help combat stress, improve health and help welcome in the New Year with optimism. I’ve had the pleasure of participating in two community 5K’s in the month of December that were fantastic experiences. The first was the Hot Chocolate 15k/5k in Scottsdale, an officially timed event that had mugs filled with hot chocolate, chocolate fondue and tasty dippable treats waiting for the racers at the finish line. Coined as “America’s Sweetest Race,” the Hot Chocolate 15K/5K proceeds benefitted the Make-A-Wish® charity and was truly a delight to be a part of.

Then, a couple of weeks ago, I ran in the Run Run Rudolph Quarter Marathon Run at Rio Vista Park in Peoria. This event included a half marathon, quarter marathon, four mile and a Reindeer Kids’ Dash. This race was fun and festive with many participants donning their best holiday gear. It was impossible not to smile, and by the end I was filled with holiday spirit as I joined the other race participants of all ages, shape and sizes from the community at the finish line. This was very memorable run!

I invite you to join me for the next community racing event, Are You Faster Than a Boy Scout which takes place Saturday, March 18, 2018 in scenic Litchfield Park. If you’d like more information about this event or if you’d like to join me, you can register by clicking here.

Wishing you and yours the happiest of holidays and a very Merry Christmas! –Lisa

Annual G.A.I.N. Event Returns to Goodyear

by Lisa Bray

Annual G.A.I.N. Event Returns to Goodyear

Did you know? In 2014 Goodyear was voted as one of the twenty most improved cities in Arizona that has really put in the hard work to bring down their overall crime rate according to Safe Choice Security. That’s just one of the many reasons why Goodyear residents are excitedly planning the annual G.A.I.N. events return to Goodyear.

G.A.I.N., or Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods, is the state’s answer to National Night Out — an “annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, better places to live.” G.A.I.N. is a “statewide day of celebration for the success of crime prevention through community involvement.”

Basically, G.A.I.N. is about getting to know your neighbors, recognizing who lives in your neighborhood and who doesn’t, keeping an eye on each other’s homes, organizing a Block Watch or Neighborhood Watch. Community involvement to make the community a safer place to live. And this year, the City of Goodyear is returning the event to its roots and encouraging neighborhoods to hold individual G.A.I.N. events to promote a better way for neighbors to get to know each other.

Goodyear’s G.A.I.N. event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. November 7th and neighborhoods can register now through September 20th by visiting http://goodyearaz.gov/residents/neighborhood-services/g-a-i-n-. Registered neighborhoods will get an involvement kit with brochures, fliers and goodies to give to attendees; visits from city officials such as the mayor, council members, police officers and firefighters; and static displays such as police cars and fire trucks.

So spread the word to your West Valley neighbors and Goodyear neighborhood home owner associations to get involved in this wonderful event to promote safer neighborhoods in our community. As Neighborhood Watch puts it, the best crime prevention tool ever invented is a good neighbor.
