5 "Egg-straordinarily" Useful Hacks for Easter

Easter is this Sunday and we all know how time consuming planning for Easter can be when you’re a busy parent. Everything from coordinating Easter egg hunts, planning arts and crafts activities, and meals can be a bit overwhelming, especially when you work or your kids are on spring break. So, here are 5 egg-straordinarily” useful hacks for Easter to make your life a little easier!

1.) Easy Egg Shell Removal: Add baking soda to your water when boiling eggs to make the shells easy to remove. When the water with baking soda passes through the eggshell, it helps the albumen to separate from the shell.

2.) Clean Dyeing: Use a whisk to hold eggs while coloring them to save you getting your fingers dyed. Just move a couple of the wires apart to insert and remove the egg.

3.) Use Koolaid Dye: Don’t want to use messy egg dyes to color your eggs this year? Use koolaid! Pour one envelope of each Kool-Aid color and 2/3 cup water into separate glasses, stirring to dissolve the drink mix. Use a spoon or whisk to place a hard-boiled egg into each cup. Keep eggs submerged until the desired color is reached.

4.) Quick Craft: Want to decorate eggs but have no time to dye eggs? Stick clear adhesive dots onto eggs and dip in sprinkles or glitter for easy decorating.

5.) Reuse Eggs: Wondering what to do with all those plastic eggs after the Easter egg hunt is over and the goodies have been removed? Reuse plastic eggs as mini lunch containers filled with little healthy bites of goodies like raisins, carrot sticks and trail mix.
Which of these 5 egg-straordinarily” useful hacks for Easter will you try? No matter how you spend your spring holiday, have a safe and Happy Easter!

3 Ways to Brighten Up Your Home with Natural Light

3 Ways to Brighten Up Your Home with Natural Light

Did you know? About forty-seven percent of the energy used in a home is for space conditioning like lighting and temperature control. So utilizing more natural lighting in your home can help you cut down on energy costs. However, the benefits of having lots of natural light in your home go far beyond energy savings. Research has proven that being exposed to natural lighting actually helps people be more productive, happier, healthier, and calmer. Natural light has also proven to regulate some disorders including SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). Here are 3 ways to brighten up your home with natural light.

1.) Go with Glass: Using glass in your doors is a great way to get more natural light further into your home. French doors are a beautiful and decorative way to let the sunshine in.  You can use frosted or tinted glass for privacy or you can use frosted film that is translucent and allows filtered light in. This look is a great decorating hack for internal rooms as well as outdoor windows.

2.) Get Reflective: The more shiny surfaces you can add to your rooms, the more light you will reflect back into the room. Using objects like chandeliers or brass lighting, gold door knobs or silver photo frames, brass candlesticks, mirrors or acrylic clear furniture should become part of your decorating strategy. Large wall mirrors are also a perfect decorating touch to help add more natural light into your space.

3.) Watch Window Coverings: Thick window treatments and curtains often absorb precious natural light. Removing heavy or dark curtains will instantly add light into your dark rooms. Light colors and light weight fabrics all help to preserve your natural light. If you need curtains for privacy, use sheer, light fabrics.

Additionally, adding a skylight is another great option for brightening your home with natural light, but they can be rather costly and must be done carefully so as not to take away from your existing architecture. Join Me for the Are You Faster than a Boy Scout Run

by Lisa Bray

Join Me for the Are You Faster than a Boy Scout Run

As an Arizona native and Goodyear resident, I’ve been proudly serving the West Valley real estate market since 2003. In addition to working as full-time agent helping clients achieve their real estate goals throughout the Valley, I love participating in local community events. Especially the charity 5Ks! Back in December I had the pleasure of running in the Run Run Rudolph Quarter Marathon Run at Rio Vista Park in Peoria. This month, I invite you to join me for the upcoming community walk/run event, Are you Faster than a Boy Scout on Saturday, March 17th.

This is a fun, family-friendly event that you will want to return to year after year. The race is a flat and fast, chip timed event and is staffed by the Boy Scouts with support from adult volunteers. Best of all 100 percent of the proceeds for this race go to fund Scouting activities including, summer camps and high adventure camps for the active Scouts in the local Troop. Troop 99, based in Litchfield Park, was chartered by the Goodyear Aircraft Corp. in 1943 and has been developing young boys into leaders in the community ever since.

The run will take place at 7:00 am at the City of Litchfield Park located at 100 S. Old Litchfield Rd., Litchfield. There will be a 5k and 10k course available to either walk or run and participants will receive a race shirt, Boy Scout themed finisher medal, and assorted discounts. The top three male and female finishers in each age group will receive awards and there will be a special division for Scouts. If you’d like more information about the first annual Are You Faster than a Boy Scout Run or if you’d like to join me, you can register by clicking here.

For more fun things to do in the West Valley or if you’re ready to buy or sell a home in the communities of Goodyear, Litchfield Park and Avondale, please contact me today!
